We were commissioned to restore the canons' windows in Naumburg Cathedral, which were painted by Prof. Fritz Geiges in 1912.
N I - Neidthart Count of Geisenau
N II - Maxilian nobleman of Planitz
Our work on these armorial windows included the securing measures as well as the conservation of these stained-glass windows.
The canons' windows are located in the west gallery in the lower arcade row to the north side.
Cleaning was commissioned as a requirement. This will be done in a dry state with a brush and scalpel. Synthetic resins from earlier restoration work have been removed with great care. The layers of paint in the lettering band as well as isolated marginal areas were consolidated. Lead fractures in the lead mesh were secured and minor cracks in the glass were glued. On the reverse side, the stained-glass areas were repaired with putty. After the final workshop work, the 3-part glazing was installed and mortared to the stone joint with the addition of winter rehair.
Careful handling is always essential for our work. This workshop work on the armorial windows of glass painter Fritz Geiges requires the highest precision, which was carried out by our trained specialists.
